In folklore and mythology, the vulture is widely revered as a sacred protector, mother, and purifier.

In modern times vultures act as nature’s cleanup crew. By efficiently consuming decaying carcasses, they provide crucial ecosystem services that actively protect human and animal populations by preventing the spread of deadly diseases.

Unfortunately despite their importance, many vulture species in Africa and around the world are facing severe threats and are actively in need of our protection.

This Himalayan Vulture artwork was created using a technique similar to scratchboard, where the black area is scraped away with sharp tools to reveal the white of the paper beneath.
