Traditional folklore across Southern Africa, including parts of Namibia, reveres the giraffe as a symbol of divine foresight.

Known as the “seer” (or prophet) of the bush due to its towering height, giraffes have an unmatched vantage point to spot approaching predators and distant weather changes long before other animals.

This Southern Giraffe portrait was created using a technique similar to scratchboard, where the black area is scraped away with sharp tools to reveal the white of the paper beneath.
